Salary: $3,537 - $4,607/Month


POSITION:

This current opening is in the Technical Services Division of the Library. Under general
supervision, performs a variety of paraprofessional library support duties related to the Children’s, Reference and Technical Services; performs related duties as required. This position may require you to work nights and/or weekends.

DUTIES:

Depending on the assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to the following; works at a public service desk and provides routine information and reader’s advisory services to library patrons; assists in the identification and procurement of library materials; coordination of the Homework HELP; participate in the development and delivery of program services including the preparation of flyers and program materials; assist with fundraising and related activities; present workshops; gather statistics and compile reports, prepare letters, memoranda and other correspondence; design, organize and conduct special assignments, projects, services and programs related to the assigned area of responsibility; conduct tours of the library’s facilities and explain library programs and policies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 Any combination of experience or education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be experience in library work including clerical and paraprofessional duties, completion of the equivalent of two years of general college course work, preferably including some library science courses.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of: Considerable knowledge of clerical library functions; computer and social media software and practices and record maintenance procedures; letter and report writing; principles and practices of supervision and training.

Ability to: Plan, coordinate and supervise activities related to the assigned areas of responsibility; analyze library data, activities and programs and develop appropriate conclusions and recommendations; operate computerized systems related to library functions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; supervise and train subordinates.
