Los Angeles - The Library Foundation - STEAM Specialist

The Library Foundation of Los Angeles and Managed Career Solutions is recruiting to fill a full-time STEAM Specialist position (18 month contract, $14-15 hourly wage based on experience).

The STEAM Specialist is responsible for providing administrative coordination for Full STEAM Ahead! a program of the Los Angeles Public Library funded by the Library Foundation of Los Angeles.  Now in its third year of operations, Full STEAM Ahead! is a multigenerational (pre-K to seniors) program that seeks to encourage curiosity, persistence, and knowledge of science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) topics. 

The primary responsibilities are:
  • Work with Library staff/external partners to plan and host professional training in STEAM topics
  • Work with Library staff to track STEAM training attendance and in-branch STEAM programming
  • Work with Library staff and external partners to create new STEAM program boxes for use by Library staff in alignment with topical training
  • Work with Library staff to track circulation of program boxes and replenish materials as necessary
  • Coordinate with library's project manager and Library Foundation program evaluator to gather usage, feedback, and other data for grant reports
  • Work with Library staff to schedule public Full STEAM Ahead! programs
  • Coordinate with library's project manager and Library Foundation Communications Director to help implement marketing strategies and develop collateral materials
  • Collaborate with Library staff and Library Foundation accounting department to provide vendor contracts, W-9s for payments, submission of invoices, and track budget expenses

  • Demonstrated record of working cooperatively and flexibly as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize work and to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and without direct supervision
  • Experience working in a public library and/or a non-profit institution

Requirements:
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite
  • High school diploma, or higher education
