TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining and improving processes and effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders by developing outstanding rapport; and assist with identifying the needs of all stakeholders; identifying and rectifying operating challenges; and recommending new operations programs.
  • Ensure a customer-centered environment that is responsive and provides effective high-quality, timely services to both students and faculty.
  • Responsible for communicating with internal departments and attending or leading meetings as appropriate and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders of the campus.
  • Review and monitor department budget and expenditures.
  • Facilitate and/or provide staff support to the activities and processes of the Campus Advisory Council, which may include Program Directors, student and staff representatives.
  • Meet regularly with the Academic Dean(s) and Program Directors to ensure that academic and student services functions facilitate student and faculty academic success. The Director ensures processes between and among the academic and student support functions are fluid, effective, efficient, and service oriented.
  • Serve as the campus adviser to the campus-based Student Government.
  • Regularly assess the academic and student support services functions and take corrective action when and where necessary. As a corollary, the Director will implement the system-wide center customer service strategies including the co-location and cross-training of appropriate staff.
  • Provide strong leadership to the campus center group by mentoring, inspiring and modeling behaviors that will motivate and encourage the group to excel in a matrix organization. Set annual goals, establish professional growth and training plans, and ensure appropriate evaluation of all campus center employees, and initiate professional development activities for center staff, and participate in these activities on a regular basis.
  • Provide HR support at the campus levels including assisting with the candidate interview process, new employee orientation and on-boarding, employee recognition programs and separations.
  • Communicate with various stakeholders about process and procedures, and solicit feedback on the effectiveness of these processes and procedures, and implement improvements as necessary. This should include scheduling periodic information sessions, disseminating newsletters and other correspondence designed to clarify issues and inform the campus community.
  • Conduct community outreach to identify potential University contacts and resources that support academic and student services programs.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with educational institutions, business, government and civic leaders in order to enhance the mission of the University.


Requirements:
Education: Master’s Degree in an education or management field or related required.

Experience:
  • Minimum five years related student services or academic support management and supervisory experience preferably in a matrix organization.
  • Very strong customer service and solutions orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to constantly respond to changing demands from management, internal and external stakeholders.

Supervisor Responsibilities:
Direct supervision of all campus student and academic support services including the functions of Financial Aid, Registrar, Disabled Student Services, Student Business Services and Academic Program Support staff. Indirect supervision of all campus Facilities, IT, and Library staff.
