Description:                      
Reporting to the Head, Collection Services the Technical Services Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating technical services operations, including acquisitions, cataloging and physical processing of print and media.

The Coordinator is also responsible for maintaining the accuracy of library holdings in online catalogs and for working with publishers and vendors to insure the receipt of materials that have been ordered. In addition, the Coordinator is also responsible for managing stacks maintenance in coordination with Access Services staff.

Qualifications:                 
  • Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Advanced professional knowledge enabling the performance of a full range of coordinating, and/or highly specialized functional subject area activities.
  • This knowledge may be acquired through considerable library experience, possibly in combination with specialized training and skills or relevant academic preparation.
  • Experience in using an integrated library system, preferably OCLC WorldShare Management Systems, and OCLC services such as Connexion and OCLC Batchload Services.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Resource Description and Access, Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR2), MARC 21 formats, Library of Congress Classification Schedules, Library of Congress Subject Headings and OCLC documentation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including use of proper grammar and standard business forms.
  • Exemplifies excellent customer service skills and interacts effectively with others in a library setting.
  • Excellent organizational skills, supervision of students, ability to prioritize work and complete assignments independently as well as work in a team environment.
  • Cross-platform computer programs including MS Word, Excel and email.
  • Information search and retrieval using library online systems, scholarly databases and the Internet.
